Forensic Investigations

IRM's computer forensics experts routinely access IT systems and networks to recover data and can determine whether it has been tampered with, damaged or deleted. Once seized, the data is imaged and examined using the specific guidelines approved by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). This process is strictly documented and IRM always maintain the integrity of the data we extract so that it can be utilised in the event of legal action.

IRM will provide this service to investigate when a problem such as hacking activity, a worm or virus outbreak or internal computer misuse becomes a problem that must be tackled. IRM forensic services supply expert assistance with external and internal incidents including the following:

  • Data recovery
  • Fraud investigations
  • Violation of corporate policy (for example data theft, internet usage, discrimination, etc.)
  • Employment tribunals and legal proceedings
  • Child pornography

IRM forensics examiners have experience managing various scenarios and dealing with different types of systems. Evidence relating to an incident can be retrieved from many devices including:

  • Servers, desktops and laptops
  • Zip drives and backup tapes
  • USB devices
  • PDAs and mobile phones
  • Digital cameras
  • Network traffic and e-mail communications
